اهداف سالمندان احساس تنهایی و انزوای زیادی را تجربه می‌کنند که انتظار می‌رود کمبود مهارت‌های اجتماعی و هوش هیجانی عوامل پدیدآورنده آن باشد. از این رو پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی روابط هوش هیجانی و مهارت‌های اجتماعی با بهزیستی روان‌شناختی در سالمندان انجام گرفت.
مواد و روش ‌ها این پژوهش مطالعه‌ای مقطعی از نوع همبستگی است. نمونه آماری آن شامل 210 سالمند زن و مرد بود که از بین سالمندان شهر تهران با روش نمونه‌گیری در دسترس انتخاب شدند. ابزار گردآوری داده‌ها پرسش‌نامه‌های هوش هیجانی، مهارت‌های اجتماعی و بهزیستی روان‌شناختی بود داده‌ها با استفاده از روش‌های آماری همبستگی پیرسون و کاننی تجزیه‌وتحلیل شد.
یافته ‌ها نتایج نشان داد مؤلفه‌های هوش هیجانی و مهارت‌های اجتماعی پیش‌بین‌های مثبت بهزیستی روان‌شناختی سالمندان بود. نتایج تحلیل همبستگی کاننی نشان داد چهار متغیر بنیادی برای درک روابط بین مجموعه متغیر‌های ملاک و پیش‌بین مورد نیاز است و هر چهار بُعد از خرده‌مقیاس‌هایی از مجموعه پیش‌بین و ملاک تشکیل شده‌اند. ضرایب بنیادی برای چهار بُعد اول به ترتیب 0/86، 0/58، 0/45 و 0/31 به دست آمد (P<0.005). 
نتیجه گیری کمبود مهارت‌های هوش هیجانی و مهارت‌های اجتماعی با بهزیستی روان‌شناختی پایین در سالمندان همبسته است. از این‌رو برنامه‌های آموزشی برای ارتقای این مهارت‌ها در سالمندان پیشنهاد می‌شود.
