اهداف با توجه به روند رو به افزایش جمعیت سالمند در جوامع، ازجمله ایران، و فشار روزافزون مراقبت از سالمندان بر نسل میان‌سال و نیز ضرورت نگاه بومی به موضوع، این پژوهش با هدف شناسایی پریشانی‌های روان‌شناختی در فرزندان متأهل مراقب والد(ین) سالمند انجام شد.
مواد و روش ها این پژوهش به روش کیفی و با استفاده از رویکرد پدیدارشناسی اجرا شد. جامعه مورد مطالعه تحقیق شامل افراد متأهل مراقب والد(ین) ساکن شهر قم در سال 1395 بود. شرکت‌کنندگان شامل 13 نفر مرد و زن بودند که به روش نمونه‌گیری هدفمند از طریق مراجعه به مراکزی انتخاب شدند که جمعیت مدنظر معمولاً مراجعه می‌کردند. حجم نمونه از طریق اشباع نظری تعیین شد. داده‌های پژوهش با استفاده از مصاحبه عمیق جمع‌آوری و داده‌ها با روش هفت‌مرحله‌ای کلایزی تحلیل شد.
یافته ها پریشانی‌های روان‌شناختی که شرکت‌کنندگان تجربه می‌کردند در قالب 3 مقوله اصلی، 7 زیرمقوله، و 39 مفهوم قرار گرفتند. مقوله اول، هیجانات ناخوشایند است که دو زیرمقوله احساسات و دغدغه‌ها را دربر می‌گیرد. مقوله دوم، حالت‌های روان‌رنجورانه است که شامل سه زیرمقوله افسردگی، اضطراب و وسواس می‌شود. مقوله سوم تعارضات است که دو زیرمقوله تعارض نقش و تردیدها را پوشش می‌دهد.
نتیجه گیری مراقبت از والد(ین) سالمند برای فرزندان متأهل که درگیر نقش‌های متعددی هستند، پیامدهای روان‌شناختی نامطلوبی دارد که در این مطالعه بومی شناسایی شدند. یافته‌های این پژوهش می‌تواند مبنایی برای ارائه خدمات روان‌شناختی و مشاوره به جمعیت هدف باشد و نیز تحقیقات کمّی و آماری بر اساس یافته‌ها را برانگیزاند.
