اهداف: گسترش بیماری کووید 19 به دلیل سرعت انتقال آن باعث ایجاد یک وضیعت اورژانس در بهداشت جهانی طی کمتر از چند ماه در سراسر کشورهای جهان شد. این بیماری نه‌تنها سبب نگرانی‌های سلامت همگانی می‌شود، بلکه تعدادی از بیماری‌های روان‌شناختی از جمله افسردگی را به وجود می‌آورد. بنابراین مطالعه حاضر با هدف بررسی شیوع افسردگی در دوران قرنطینه کووید 19 در سالمندان شهرستان گناباد انجام شد.
مواد و روش ها: مطالعه توصیفی مقطعی حاضر روی 432 سالمند که معیار ورود به مطالعه را داشتند انجام شد. ابزار جمع‌آوری داده‌ها پرسش‌نامه‌ای دوبخشی شامل پرسش‌نامه اطلاعات جمعیت‌شناختی و پرسش‌نامه افسردگی GDS بود. نمونه‌ها به صورت خوشه‌ای تصادفی انتخاب شدند. جمع‌آوری داده‌ها به صورت تلفنی (به علت سرایت بیماری) از مراکز سلامت جامعه و پایگاه‌های بهداشتی انجام شد. داده‌ها با کمک نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخه 23 و با استفاده از آمار توصیفی و استنباطی و با سطح معنی‌داری کمتر از 0/05 مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرارگرفتند.
یافته ها: در پژوهش حاضر شیوع افسردگی 55/8 درصد بود. یافته‌ها حاکی از آن بود که بین تأهل (0/001>P)، همراه زندگی (0/001>P)، وضعیت اقتصادی (0/001>P)، سابقه خانوادگی ابتلا به افسردگی (0/001>P)، سابقه بیماری مزمن (0/003>P)، سطح تحصیلات (0/001>P) و کیفیت خواب (0/001>P) با شیوع افسردگی ارتباط آماری معنی‌داری وجود دارد.
نتیجه گیری: بر اساس یافته‌های پژوهش، افسردگی در سالمندان در دوران قرنطینه بیماری کووید 19 شیوع بالایی دارد. با توجه به شیوع بالای افسردگی سالمندان در دوران همه‌گیری بیماری‌هایی مانند شرایط کووید 19، باید مداخلات مرتبط و توجهات به این گروه از سالمندان در برنامه‌ریزی های مراقبین سلامت لحاظ شود.
