Abstract:   (49 Views)
Objective: This study considering gerascophobia and its associated factors among adults in Sirjan in 2025.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on adults aged 17 to 64 with health records in Sirjan health centers using stratified sampling with proportional allocation. The data collection tool was the demographic questionnaire and the Lasher and  Faulkender gerascophobia Scale.
Findings: The mean overall gerascophobia score in 354 participants was 69.4 ± 7.6. The mean scores for the domains of fear of loss, physical appearance, psychological concerns, and fear of the elderly were 16.1 ± 3.9, 16.4 ± 3.0, 17.6 ± 3.1, and 19.2 ± 3.5, respectively.
Conclusion: it is suggested that future interventions include SET-based interventions to reinforce positive stereotypes in lonely elderly people and comprehensive family-centered programs, media campaigns to change public attitudes toward aging, and supportive economic policies to reduce gerascophobia.
