Intrudaction and aimed: Today, the world population, especially a significant part of our country's population, is aging. People in this period are faced with physical limitations and illness, and problems related to mental health such as obsession can increase the limitations of this period. Therefore, in this research, the lived experience of the elderly with intellectual-practical obsessions about their illness is explored. paid.
Method: The present research was carried out using qualitative and phenomenological methods. For this purpose, among the elderly people with obsessive-compulsive disorder referring to counseling centers in Isfahan city, who were diagnosed by a psychologist and scored higher than 23 in the Yale-Brown questionnaire and agreed to participate in the research, 10 people were selected in a targeted manner. They were selected and subjected to a 60-minute in-depth interview. Also, the interviews continued until saturation and repetition of the data and were recorded using a voice recorder, after which all the conversations were accurately recorded on paper and coding and topics were extracted using the Claysey method.
Finding: The findings indicate the achievement of 4 general themes and 11 sub-themes, including fragile self-esteem (self-deprecation, helplessness, being oppressed and ruining one's life and social stigma, obsession), dysfunctional attitude (obsessional normalcy). and superstition), relational dissatisfaction (problematic interactions with spouse and troublesome social interactions) and lack of self-compassion (emotional suffering, neglect of physical care and fruitless struggles).
Conclusion: The results showed that the elderly with obsessions experience many limitations, they have less family and marital support, the stigma of the disease bothers them, they experience high emotional suffering, and they do not feel sorry for themselves.
