Objectives: Quality of life is considered as an important indicator in health evaluation, which is effective in improving the health of the elderly's body and mind. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of Sport intervention Based on Intergenerational programs on the elderlies’ quality of life.
Methods & Materials: The research was based on a quasi-experimental method with pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 150 elderly and 100 students with an average age of 71.78 ± 4.50 and 21.86 ± 2.62 years respectively who resided in Mashhad city in 2017, were entered into the study by available sampling method. The participants were randomly divided into three groups including two experimental groups which participated in two types of intergenerational programs for eight weeks and one control group. In this study, the demographic variables, Socio-Economic status and Quality of Life Questionnaires were used for data collection. Finally, the collected data were analyzed by using ANOVA and two-way ANOVA in SPSS-25 software.
Results: In assessing the interactive effect of the two class variables, no significant effect was observed between the levels of the groups and the demographic variables (P>0.05). But in assessing the independent effect, the economic status variable had a significant effect on quality (P0.05). There were significant differences between the quality-dimensional scales in the three groups (P<0.01). But this variables in the first (81.56 ±17.87) and second (75.28±18.59) groups were significantly higher than pre-test measures and the control group (42.28±2.21) (P<0.01).
Conclusion: Intergenerational programs by enhancing the quality of life can have a beneficial effect on the lives of the elderly.
