Objectives: having adequate mobility and doing physical activity during aging can be effective in improving mental health.  The purpose of this research is to investigate the mediating role of physical activity in the relationship between emotional intelligence and psychological well-being.
Methods & Materials: this is a descriptive-correlation study which was done by collecting data using emotional intelligence, psychological well-being and international questionnaires of physical activity among elderly people. The statistical population of this research was the elderly people in Ahvaz city that a sample of 120 people with average age of (64/52±2/98) was selected by using the purposeful sampling method. Data collection was done by filling out the questionnaires by the elderly people. The criteria to inter to the study were the ages over 60, the ability to understand and answer to the questions of the researcher, complete consciousness, and mental health. The data were analyzed by using the correlation coefficient and Bootstrap test was used to determine the mediating role of physical activity. The software of SPSS version 21 and AMOS version 18 were used to analyze data. The significance level was also considered P<0/05. 
Results: the results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and psychological well-being. It was also found that physical activity has a mediator role in the relationship between emotional intelligence and psychological well-being (P<0.05).
Conclusion: according to the findings of the present research and the mediator role of physical activity on emotional intelligence and psychological well-being, doing physical activity and sufficient mobility can improve emotional intelligence, psychological well-being and, in general, mental health during aging.
