Introduction & objective: aging is a potential vulnerability period in which undesirable nutritional status provides conditions of Incidence of disease and increased health costs. This study was conducted to determine the nutritional status of elderly people in Shahroud and Damghan nursing homes (Semnan Province) and some related factors in 2018.
Materials and Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out in Shahrood and Damghan of a nursing home by the use of a census sampling method. A comprehensive nutrition MNA (Minimal Nutrition Assessment) and anthropometric evaluation inventory of 129 elderly people were collected and Chi-square, ANOVA, and independent T-test were used to analyze the data through SPSS software. The significance level was 0.05.
Results: The mean age of participants was 75.44 ± 10.56 years. In terms of nutritional status, 22.5% of the subjects had malnutrition and 57.4% had malnutrition risk and 20.2% had a good nutritional status. There was a statistically significant relationship between nutritional status and sex and age, salary, Smoking, Motor Function impairment,  disorders of the urine and not using mass media (p<0.05).
Conclusion: In the case study, the nutritional status of few numbers of populations is desirable. So, what today's elderly people experience in terms of nutrition and health in the nursing home is far from acceptable standards and requires serious planning and consideration of relevant organization, especially the health system.
