Purpose: considering the importance of spiritual health, family satisfaction and family cohesion in maintaining the overall health of the elderly and the favorable results it has for the elderly; This study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between spiritual health and family satisfaction and family cohesion among the elderly in Gonabad city.
Research method: The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional research that was conducted on 200 elderly people living in Gonabad city in 1402. The research units were selected and included in the study by cluster sampling method. The data was collected using the spiritual health questionnaires of Ajam et al. and the family cohesion and flexibility scale (FACES-IV). Data analysis was done using spss version 20 software and Spearman's correlation test.
Findings: The mean ± standard deviation of spirituality is 6.89 ± 92.48, family cohesion is 3.35 ± 31.57, family satisfaction is 7.29 ± 40.38, and the findings of this study showed that spiritual health is directly correlated And it has significance with family cohesion (r=0.52) (P<0.001) and family satisfaction (r=0.57) (P<0.001).
Conclusion: According to the findings of the present study, spiritual health is significantly related to family satisfaction and family cohesion, which means that the elderly who have a high level of spiritual health have higher family satisfaction and cohesion. Therefore, it is suggested that those in charge take the necessary plans and measures to strengthen and improve the spiritual health of the elderly, so as to increase family satisfaction and family cohesion.
