Objectives: To translate the Community Health Activities Model Program for Seniors (CHAMPS) into Persian and to evaluate validity and reliability of Persian version of CHAMPS to use for older with difference levels of physical activity.
Methods & Materials: The International Quality Of Life Assessment (IQOLA) approach was used to translate CHAMPS from English into Persian. A sample of 200 older completed the Persian version of the CHAMPS to determine its item concurrent and convergent validity, and internal consistency. To examine test-retest reliability, a sample of 30 caregivers completed CHAMPS again 2 weeks after the first completion.
Results: More than 85% of items had good quality score of translation. Comments from translators were used to modify items with quality score less than 90. More than 96% of items correlate strongly with its own subscale than other subscales. The Infraclass Correlation Coefficients were r>0.49. Cranach’s coefficient α was calculated 0.76 for the overall scale. coefficient test-retest reliability was in range 0.64-0.78 coefficient correlation for concurrent validity were 0.33 and 0.42 and convergent validity were 0.25 and 0.19.
Conclusion: The quality of translation in the present study was determined satisfactory. The Persian version of the CHAMPS has acceptable levels of face validity, concurrent and convergent validity, test-retest reliability, and internal consistency to use for older. It is suitable measurement of physical activity levels.
